The fifth game of the MLK Classic featured Salpointe Catholic (18-0) against Tucson High (11-7). The game showcased arguably the best talent in the side with Salpointe star Evan Nelson. Coming into the game, Salpointe had been on a rolling, cruising past their competition by an average of 24.4 points over their last five games.
This wasn’t the first time these two teams have played each other; earlier in the season, Salpointe beat Tucson High 73-35.
This time would be different, as Tucson High was able to stay in the game, creating a glimmer of hope for an upset. However, every time they were able to get within five or six-points, Salpointe would answer with a run of their own.
The game would end with Salpointe winning 70-60 improving to (19-0) on this season with a critical match-up against Catalina Foothills on the horizon.
