On Sunday, a helicopter accident took the lives of nine people, with Kobe and Gianna Bryant among them. The crash has left the world completely devastated and in complete disbelief.
It is clear through all the tributes and people paying their respects that Kobe had a massive impact on the generation that grew up watching him play, not only as a basketball player making plays on the court but as a mentor for people to strive for greatness in an endeavor that they’re pursuing.
There are many in Tucson that looked up to Kobe and are still trying to wrap their minds around what happened. One of those people is Sabino star Kiya Dorroh, who had an opportunity to meet Kobe and Gianna when she played for a traveling AAU team in Los Angeles two years ago.
