Sabino TE Michael Masunas (6-4, 230) is transferring to Hamilton and will be practicing with the Huskies during spring drills according to his family. Masunas caught 17 passes for 207 yards and a couple TDs to help the Sabercats finish with an 8-4 record. Masunas also finished with 36 tackles and six sacks from the DE position.

His family is moving to the Phoenix area for work-related reasons.

“It is best for our family to make a move so that we are closer to where he (His father Mike Masunas) must be for work,” his mother Annalisa Moore Masunas explained.

“He has been unable to find comparable employment in Tucson since his firm was taken over by a new company a year and a half ago, and it has been hard on our family for him to have such reduced income and more stress.”

Masunas is still growing according to the family and is he is already on the recruiting map.

“We have lived in Tucson our whole lives and love it,” Annalisa Moore Masunas added. “Who knows, maybe Michael will be back for college here. We will miss our family and friend here, and the kids will miss their teammates and friends at Sabino. This will be a big change but we are looking forward to this new chapter in our lives.”
