Nick Gonzales makes Golden Spikes Watch List; WAC & Collegiate Baseball Player of the Week

Former Cienega standout Nick Gonzales (New Mexico State) was one of ten players to earn Collegiate Baseball’s National Player of the Week award.

Gonzales recorded 17 RBI over four games and he belted four home runs, two doubles and scored eight runs for 22 total bases against Texas Southern. He walked six times and was 8-for-14 at the plate. In game four of the series, he hit a trio of home runs with nine RBI during a 15-8 win.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.
