Scott Bockisch & Nick Estrella earn Conference Honors

Scott Bockisch (Marymount)

Former Catalina Foothills swimmer Scott Bockisch earned multiple Atlantic East Conference (AEC) honors this week. The Marymount senior earned First-Team All-Conference status in the 200 Medley Relay, Second Team in the 100 Butterfly, Second Team in 200 Relay, Second Team in the 400 Relay and Second Team in the 400 Medley Relay.

Nick Estrella (APU)

Former Ironwood Ridge standout Nick Estrella earned PacWest Player of the Week honors for Azusa Pacific. According to the PacWest: “Estrella recorded four multi-hit games last week and helped the Cougars win the final two games of a four-game series against Dixie State. He went 6-for-10 with six RBIs and four extra-base hits to finish the series. He hit home runs in each of the wins in the series and added a pair of doubles on the week. In the third game of the series, Estrella went 2-for-2 with three RBIs. The senior also pitched 3.2 innings with just one run allowed as he struck out four batters with only three hits allowed. He now leads the conference in batting average and OPS this season.”

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.
