End of an Era: Legendary Dave Glasgow Leaving Buena After 15 Years to Return to Coolidge


Dave Glasgow, who has 567 victories in his 27 years as a head coach at Coolidge and Buena, is leaving the Colts after 15 years at Sierra Vista to return to coach the Bears.

When he coached at Coolidge from 1993 -2004, his record was 217-89. He won 20 or more games six times with six region championships and five region tournament titles.

The Bears were 3A state champions in 1997-98, 1998-99 and 2001-02. They went 32-0 in 2001-02. They lost in the state championship to Tuba City in 2000-01, finishing 30-2. 

His record at Buena, which began in 2004-2005, was 354-121. The Colts won 20 or more games 14 times with region championships in 2005-06, 2007-08, 2008-09, 2010-11, 2017-18 and 2019-20. They also earned a regular-season section championship in 2013-14.

The Colts advanced to 5A state semifinals twice, in 2008-09 beating then third-ranked Mesa Mountain View 61-50 on the road and in 2010-11, defeating Desert Vista 74-73 at Sierra Vista to advance.

A total of 31 Buena players have gone on to play college basketball in the 16 years Glasgow was coach.
