Bryce Cotton Earns Second NBL Grand Final MVP after scoring 31 points in Deciding Game

(Perth Wildcats Graphic)

Former Palo Verde standout Bryce Cotton led the Perth Wildcats to their 10th NBL championship on Wednesday. Cotton scored 31 points in the deciding final (111-96) over the Sydney Kings to earn the title of “Grand Final MVP” for the second time in his career.

The Wildcats led the Kings 2-1 in the series but the rest of the games were canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. According to reports, the NBL Commissioner decided the championship based on recommendations from the NBL Board of Directors and FIBA. It’s important to point out the Kings pulled out of the series due to the outbreak.

Cotton is the first Wildcat to be named league MVP, Grand Final MVP and win a championship all in the same season according to the program.

This list will be updated all year in an effort to recognize all former local prep stars who have gone on to achieve either academic and/or athletic awards at the next level. These are not high school awards but collegiate and professional recognitions. NOT CHAMPIONSHIPS. If you are aware of anything I have missed along the way, please let me know.

Portions from news release.

We’ve recognized 28 athletes so far this year. We recognized 195 athletes in 2019.
