Easton Mascarenas, Son of Former Arizona Softball Standout, Offered Football Scholarship by Wildcats

Easton Mascarenas, a Class of 2021 outside linebacker at Mission Viejo (Calif.) High School, has been offered a scholarship to play football at Arizona — the same school his mom Toni Mascarenas is a member of the school’s Hall of Fame.

Toni, who now has the married name of Toni Arnold, was part of Arizona’s softball team that won the Women’s College World Series in 2001. Mascarenas was inducted into the Arizona Sports Hall of Fame in 2006 after her career that included two first-team All-American selections and NCAA top 5 record status at the time in home runs for a season (25) and career RBIs (245).

Easton’s cousin is Arizona softball standout Alyssa Palomino-Cardoza.

New Arizona linebackers coach Andy Buh is recruiting him.

Mascarenas is rated a 3-star linebacker by Rivals who is being recruited by most Pac-12 schools. Rivals lists Oregon State as the leader for his services because his brother Akili Arnold plays for the Beavers. ASU, Boise State, Colorado, Duke, Kansas, San Diego State, Washington and Washington State are among his many suitors.

Easton is a 6-foot, 220-pound prospect who “has a nice edge to him,” 247Sports reports. “(He) hits like a truck and makes plays sideline to sideline. He probably projects best as an inside ‘backer at the next level and is only scratching the surface of how good he’ll be a in a few years.”
