For the past three seasons, Scottie Young Jr. has been a consistent defensive playmaker for Arizona, collecting five interceptions and a pick returned for a touchdown.
Now, Young, a safety, has announced that he is leaving Arizona after entering his name in the transfer portal.
Last season, Arizona’s pass defense ranked No. 126 out of 130 teams nationally, giving up a total of 289.8 yards a game and 26 passing touchdowns.
The transfer puts pressure on Arizona to try to find someone to fill the hole left behind by Young Jr. with little depth on the roster to do so. Arizona now has seven safeties on the roster with Jarrius Wallace, Christian Young, and Jaxen Turner being the only players with in-game experience.
