Potential Diamond-in-the-Rough Offensive Lineman Anthony Patt Signs With Arizona Wildcats

San Marcos (Calif.) High School product Anthony Patt has no star ratings from Rivals or 247Sports, but he has good size at 6-5 and 265 pounds and could be a developing player who can contribute on the offensive line in two to three years.

According to Rivals, Arizona is the only major college program that offered Patt a scholarship. West Virginia apparently showed interest.

Patt is the fifth offensive line recruit in the Class of 2020 to sign with Kevin Sumlin. He announced his signing today. He follows Leif Magnuson, a guard from Canada; Woody Jean, a tackle from Pompano Beach, Fla.; Josh Baker, a center from Eureka, Mo.; and Sam Langi, a guard who is transferring from College of San Mateo in California. Grand Valley State transfer Matthew Stefanski, a guard, is entering the program as a preferred walk-on.

Arizona offensive line coach Kyle DeVan is responsible for the recruitment of the linemen who have signed, including Patt. DeVan, who played at Oregon State, is in his second year as the offensive line coach after a six-year background previously with Ball State, the New Orleans Saints, USC and Oregon State.

Arizona’s recruiting class of 2020 includes 21 players with 14 of them rated with three stars by Rivals, including Magnuson, Jean and Baker. Rivals ranks the overall class 56th in the nation and 11th in the Pac-12, leading only USC.

Rivals does not list any other recruits from Arizona’s class who have not signed.
