Baseball: Ironwood Ridge standout Nicholas Warren commits to Arizona; CDO standout Marcus Delgado commits to New Mexico State

Ironwood Ridge catcher/outfielder Nicholas Warren (5-9, 155) announced his commitment to play for the University of Arizona on Wednesday. The junior is known as a tough defender and pitch caller behind the plate and the Nighthawks were 6-3 when the season was canceled.

The Wildcats play in the Pac-12 Conference. Former Tucson High pitcher George Arias Jr. and former Nogales pitcher German Fajardo are on the Arizona roster from Southern Arizona.

Canyon del Oro pitcher/outfielder Marcus Delgado (6-2, 180) is headed to New Mexico State and the junior will be joining a whole crew of athletes of Southern Arizona.

Former Sahuarita standout Chris Barraza and Nogales standout Kevin Jimenez will be juniors for the Aggies this year. In addition, Sahuarita pitcher Ian Mejia transferred from Pima to New Mexico State. Sabino standouts Joey Parker and Jacob Wiltshire will be Aggies in 2021. Nogales junior standouts Demetrio Crisantes and Saul Soto have also committed to play for New Mexico State.

Delgado batted .364 with three RBI to help lead the Dorados to a 4-1 record at the break. Located in Las Cruces, New Mexico State competes in the Western Athletic Conference.
