Arizona Wildcats Continue Southern Class of 2021 Recruiting Focus With Commitment from Tyler (Texas) Cornerback

Tyler (Texas) Legacy High School cornerback Jakelyn Morgan decommitted from UNLV today and promptly shifted his pledge to Arizona.

Morgan, rated a three-star Class of 2021 prospect by 247 Sports, committed to UNLV on Aug. 3. His change to Arizona gives coach Kevin Sumlin 13 commitments from those who play defense. The class has 22 known commitments overall.

At 6-foot-1 and 175-pounds, Morgan played the last two seasons at Bullard (Texas) Brook Hill High School. He transferred to Legacy, a 6A school about 90 miles east of Dallas.

Morgan’s commitment continues to exhibit Sumlin’s focus on recruiting the South and Southwest.

Morgan is the sixth recruit from Texas in the Class of 2021, which also includes four from neighboring Louisiana (all from New Orleans).

Sumlin coached at Houston and Texas A&M before arriving in Tucson in 2018.

Only five commitments are from high school players in California. Canyon del Oro running back Stevie Rocker Jr. and Washington-based recruits D.J. Fryar (a linebacker from Steilacoom) and Clay Millen (quarterback from Snoqualmie) are the only other West coast recruits.
