Desert Thunder Campos 18U Earns USA Arizona Gold Showcase Championship

The Desert Thunder Campos 18U team, comprised of Southern Arizona high school standouts, went 6-0-1 last weekend including a 2-1 win over AZ Hotshots Delasante in the championship of the USA Arizona Gold 18U Showcase at Phoenix.

Julia Holt, daughter of former Arizona football standout Julius Holt, pitched two complete games of seven innings and allowed only one run. A junior at Salpointe carrying a 3.93 GPA in honors classes, Julia pitched the championship game for Desert Thunder.

Her team trailed 1-0 in the bottom of the seventh against AZ Hotshots. After Allee Noble (CDO), Tatum Caldwell (Marana) and Naya Campos (CDO) reached base on singles to load the bases, Gigi Garcia (Marana) hit a walk-off ground-rule two-run double for the win.
