Benson has earned the top seed in the Class 2A state playoffs with a 7-0 record and the Bobcats will host a quarterfinal game Friday at 7 p.m. against No. 8 Morenci.
It will be rematch of the Bobcats and Wildcats (6-1) from when Benson won 12-6 on the road Oct. 30. Devin Bowling had 128 yards on 21 carries and Jace Barney tallied 115 yards on 22 carries in that game in which the Bobcats gained all 308 of their yards on the ground.
Eloy Santa Cruz Valley, 6-1 with its lone loss against Class 4A Casa Grande, is the No. 3 seed in the 2A playoffs. The Dust Devils, who feature senior Hunter Ogle, one of the top running backs in the state, will host No. 6 Scottsdale Prep (6-1).
