UA’s game with UTEP on Sunday won’t be played

Looks like the next game Arizona plays will be a crucial Pac-12 Conference game. Sunday’s game has been called off.

In a statement to the media late Friday and about three hours after UA defeated Grambling State, Arizona released a statement saying Sunday’s game with UTEP will not be played.

“After consultation with the Pac-12 Conference, University of Arizona leadership, UTEP and their conference partners, the Arizona Men’s Basketball game on Sunday, Nov. 29 will not be played due to a positive COVID-19 case within the UTEP men’s basketball program as well as ensuing contact tracing and mitigation protocols,” the statement read.

Arizona is exploring opportunities to replace the game, but it’s unclear when that game will be played. UA faces Colorado on Wednesday.

Arizona did not play its season opener vs Northern Arizona when the game was cancelled because a Northern Arizona player tested positive for Covid-19.
