Arizona softball has been waiting to play its first regular-season game in 11 months since the 2020 campaign shut down due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The Wildcats were supposed to open their 2021 season in Texas for the Texas Classic, where they would have played two top 10 teams in Texas and Alabama with Sam Houston State on the schedule as well. The whole invitational was canceled due to inclement weather.
Arizona will make up one of the missed games during the Hillenbrand Invitational by playing Southern Utah an extra game on Friday at 3 p.m. to start the weekend before playing New Mexico the same day at 6.
