After starting the season 4-0, Arizona soccer dropped its first match of the season 2-1 in a hard-fought contest versus No. 4 UCLA.
The Wildcats were looking to get back in the win column against Washington. The Huskies had other plans and stifled the Arizona offense, blanking coach Tony Amato‘s squad 3-0, falling to 4-2 on the season.
It was the first time that Arizona finished a match without a point since losing a 3-0 game to Cal back on Oct. 31, 2019. The loss to the Huskies makes it a two-game losing streak for Arizona against Washington.
Arizona couldn’t get anything going on offense and struggled to pressure the backline with only three shots taken the whole match. In comparison, the Huskies took shots and had seven shots on goal to the Wildcats one.
With the loss Arizona put itself into a whole in the always tough Pac-12 conference starting conference play 0-2 and now will go on the road to face the Oregon schools.
