We Got Next 3-on-3 League underway

The first We Got Next 3-on-3 League operated by former Salpointe, Pima College and Grand Canyon standout Derek Hersha completed its opening day of games on Saturday at Tucson Baptist Church.

League play runs on Saturdays with two more days included — March 13 and 20. The playoff tournament runs March 26 and 27.

Here are photos taken by We Got Next with player analysis provided by Hersha, who is the executive director, coach and trainer of Apex Athletix youth basketball organization:

Tyson Bobbins, 7th Grade, Desert Christian.  Very athletic for a 7th grader and also very versatile.  Leader of his team and contributed significant offense to help his team win.
Issac Sdobnev, Freshman, Sabino HS.  Very Athletic. Finds a way to get to the rim and finishes well around the basket.
Max Trainer, 8th Grade Tucson Country Day School.  Well balanced game and a good shooter.
Harvey Sayon, 8th Grade, Esperero Middle School.  Plays above the rim and is very creative at getting to the basket.  Very difficult to guard and the centerpiece of his team.
Noah Lambe, 4th Grade, Pusch Ridge.  Very skilled at multiple aspects of the game.  Can hit mid range shots and drive and finish with a variety of moves.  Great team player and shares the basketball well.
Josiah Gill, 3rd Grader, Gale Elementary School.  Played both sides, defense and offense.  Got tons of steals while leading his team in scoring by hitting mid-range shots and finishing around the basket.
Isaiah Gill, 6th Grade, Gridley Middle School.  2nd game, Isaiah took over and dominated the scoring for his team.  Weaved his way through defenders and finished with his left and right hand at the basket.
Nole Katz, 6th Grade, St. Michaels.  Nole really surprised some people today.  He is smaller than most kids in his grade but he rebounded the ball well, defended bigger kids and led his team in scoring today.
Enzo Castillo, 5th Grade, Leman Academy.  Enzo was sniper from the 3pt line and hit some big shots to help his team win today.  Plays with a ton of energy and enthusiasm for basketball.
Marcus Frueh, 6th Grade, Gregory School.  Big kid for his age and grade but can handle the basketball well.  Has his eyes up when he’s dribbling and made some great passes to his teammates.
Curtis Ortega, Junior, Tohono O’odham HS.  Scored at the basket and knocked down 3ptrs.  Strong competitor at all time and gave everything he had to support his team on defense and offense.
Arsean Bozo, Sophomore, Baboquivari HS.  Dominated the glass in one of his games and finished around the basket consistently.  His offensive rebounding was the deciding factor in one of his team’s wins.
Ben Kmak, Sophomore, Cienega.  Great shooter and knocked down some big shots when it counted to help his time win the 3rd game in best 2 out of 3.
Aeden Haymore, Freshman, Amphi HS.  Shifty and quick guard that dominated the scoring for his team.
Devin Antone, Freshman, Baboquivari HS.  Well balanced player with a motor who takes no breaks on the defensive end.  Plays very unselfishly but turns it on when his team’s needs buckets.
