Sahuarita’s Gabe Elias to wrestle for Dixie State

Sahuarita High School standout wrestler Gabe Elias, who also excelled at quarterback for the Mustangs’ football team, has announced that he will wrestle at Dixie State in St. George, Utah.

Elias, the Arizona Division III state runner-up at 145 pounds, has a career wrestling record of 32-5.

“I chose Dixie State because it was the place where I felt the most at home and most comfortable at,” Elias mentioned. “It is also the closest to home and has a very great support system.”

Elias plans to major in psychology when he heads to Dixie State, which is part of the National Wrestling Coaches Association. The program may soon elevate to NCAA Division I status. Many of the other sports at Dixie State are at the Division I level in the Western Athletic Conference.
