Academic honors accumulating for Arizona’s Sam Thomas

Information from Arizona’s media relations department contributed to this report:

For the second time in her career, Sam Thomas has been named CoSIDA Academic All-District.

It has been a year of academic awards for Thomas as she was named Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and won the Elite90 Award at the Final Four earlier this year.

Thomas sports a 4.00 GPA while earning her master’s degree in Educational Leadership after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Psychology in just three years with a 3.97 GPA.

The Las Vegas native was also named First-Team Pac-12 All-Academic in 2019 and was on the 2020 Pac-12 Winter Academic Honor Roll.

Thomas has been an integral piece to Arizona’s success over the last few seasons.

She scored her 1,000th career point earlier this season and is the Pac-12’s active leader in both steals and blocked shots. She has started all 125 games of her career, which is the second-most of any Wildcat in the history of the program.

Davellyn Whyte is he leader with 126 starts. Thomas figures to break that record early in the 2021-22 season.
