Catalina’s Boniface Ekenya signs with Paradise Valley Community College

Catalina High School senior midfielder Boniface Ekenya, who led the Trojans to the Class 3A state playoffs, has signed a national letter of intent with Paradise Valley Community College.

Ekenya, a four-year varsity letterman, had 69 steals this season for Catalina, which finished 7-2 overall and 4-0 in the 3A South.

“Boniface was critical to our team and program,” Catalina four-year coach Gabriel Rocha. “A young man of high character and drive. He is workhorse who embraces the tough and rises from it.

“I think he will offer PVCC a player who can impact all phases of the game. A plus defender and the ability to start the attack makes him a dual threat. His energy and charisma is infectious and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him become one of the captains.”

Catalina was 14-5-3 overall in Ekenya’s last three years.
