Former Nogales and Pima standout Marcel Renteria called up to the Syracuse Mets

Former Nogales, Pima and New Mexico State pitcher Marcel Renteria was called up to the Syracuse Mets on Thursday from the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. The Ponies are the Double-A affiliate of the New York Mets and the Syracuse Mets are the Triple-A affiliate.

The Mets organization recognized Renteria in 2018 when he pitched for their Single-A club, the Columbia Fireflies. He earned the Sterling Award winner for community service.
