Former Cholla, Pima guard Marcel Dean signs with NAIA program Kansas Wesleyan

Cholla High School and Pima College standout Marcel Dean has signed with NAIA program Kansas Wesleyan.

Dean, a freshman guard, will play with the Coyotes play in the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference.

He played and started in all five games this season as he led the ACCAC in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game. He also averaged 5.6 rebounds and 4.0 assists.

Dean scored a season-high 40 points on 14-for-22 shooting at Eastern Arizona College on March 27.

After graduating at Cholla in 2018, he played the 2018-19 season at Tohono O’odham Community College where he played in 30 games and averaged 13.1 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.5 assists. TOCC disbanded its basketball program the following season and Dean transferred to Pima.

He sat out the 2019-20 and was limited to the five games this year because of COVID-19 protocol.
