Molina’s no-hitter forces deciding title game for Nogales against Continental Ranch


Nogales remained alive for the Intermediate 50/70 state championship behind Ivan Molina’s no-hitter in a 12-1 win over Continental Ranch on Wednesday night.

The teams, which have beat each other once in the tournament, play again Thursday at 10 a.m. for the deciding game of the championship at Fleischer Park.

Molina, a right-hander, did not allow a hit in five innings against Continental Ranch on Wednesday. He struck out 10 and walked two.

EJ Mayer went 3 for 3 with two runs and five RBIs. He had a double and a home run.

Xaciel Garcia, Jesus Rodriguez and Ruben Celaya each added two hits for Nogales. Celaya contributed two RBIs.
