Sunnyside’s Audrey Jimenez in FloWrestling’s featured Who’s Number One match

FloWrestling’s Who’s Number One will for the first time have a full lineup of women’s matches Sept. 17 and Sunnyside sophomore Audrey Jimenez is in the headliner match against Paige Morales at 106 pounds.

Jimenez is the No. 1 wrestler at that weight class in the nation according to FloWrestling because she defeated Nyla Valencia and Faith Cole at the Women’s National Championships in May. She outscored opponents 44-1 in that competition, which earned her the Most Outstanding Wrestler award.

Jimenez is coming off winning a bronze medal in the Cadet World Championships at Budapest, Hungary, last month.

She also made history last season when she became the first female to win a state title for Sunnyside. She is also the first female wrestling state champion from Tucson.

Morales took third place in the same Women’s Nationals Championships bracket that Jimenez won. Morales won two titles in the prestigious Fargo event last month.

Morales, of Clovis, Calif., won both the 16U and Junior titles.

She lost a one-point match to Faith Cole in the semifinals of the Women’s Nationals that prevented her from facing Jimenez in the championship.

A site and times have not been determined yet for The Who’s Number One competition.
