Arizona ranked No. 17, Michigan falls to 20

Tommy Lloyd and company and now in the polls after a championship win in the Roman Main Event.

Arizona comes in at No. 17 in the Associated Press writer’s poll. It was the third time in the last 25-plus years Arizona had gone from unranked to ranked in the season’s first two-three weeks.

Back in 1995-95 it occurred and in 2001-02. Arizona won the NIT in 1995 and in 2001 Arizona won the Coaches vs. Cancer Championship.

It took Arizona to win the Main Event, defeating No. 4 Michigan 80-62, in Las Vegas.

“We’ve got good players,” Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd said. “I know we’ve been out of the limelight; maybe a little bit of that’s my fault because I haven’t been looking for it. But you know what? We’re here now. And we belong.”
