The Pima Aztecs men’s and women’s soccer teams had an incredible run throughout the NJCAA Division II national tournament in Wichita, Kan., with both teams making it to the final match that took place last Saturday.

The No. 2 seeded men’s team won the the national championship by a 2-2 (5-3 in penalty kicks) victory against No. 1 seeded CCBC Essex (Md.).

The No. 4 women’s team got the runner-up trophy earlier that day, losing to No. 1 Heartland (Ill.) 2-2 (4-2 in penalty kicks).

The Aztecs returned home to a packed house at Pima West Gym on Monday night.

Moments like these are something that every player will remember for as long as they live. Getting the opportunity to talk to the student-athletes and coaches was truly memorable as well.
