No. 8 Pima comes up short against Cochise College

The no. 8-ranked Pima Community College women’s basketball team (12-4) fell to Cochise College 65-60 at West Campus Aztec Gymnasium on Wednesday.

Pima led 48-47 to start the fourth quarter, but the Apaches went on a 15-3 run in a little over six minutes to take a 62-51 lead. The Aztecs went on a 7-0 run of their own that included two converted free throws and a three-pointer by freshman Luisayde Chavez (Rio Rico HS) to cut the deficit to 62-58. After a basket from freshman Matehya Aberle cut the lead to 62-60, Cochise scored the final three points to seal it.

Aberle finished with a team-high of 15 points and nine rebounds. 

Chavez finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.

Freshman Angel Addleman (Palo Verde HS) finished with a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Pima plays at Eastern Arizona College on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
