SAM’S CORNER: No excuse for Oregon loss; support Adia Barnes for what happened after

Hello Wildcat fans,

It was quite the trip to the Oregons. We started off in Oregon State on Thursday last week. Oregon State is probably my favorite place to play in besides McKale because the gym looks a little old school and wooden. It has a nice feel to it. We ended up winning at the buzzer by a shot by Shaina. If you haven’t seen it already, it was exciting to watch. Every time we play Oregon State I feel like it is a close game. In fact, don’t quote me on this but I think every year except my freshman year that we have played OSU it has either gone into OT or someone has won by a point margin less than 5.

We celebrated by getting some yogurt after the game before preparing for Oregon. I don’t want to comment much on the Oregon game but we can’t be a national contending team and give up a 17-point lead and then lose the game. We have to learn and grow as a team to not let that happen again. We could make all the excuses but at the end of the day that is the only thing that matters. Some games you get the calls you want and other games you don’t, we just have to play through it.

In regards to what happened after the game, those that were there and close enough know the truth and what really happened. There was no disrespect happening against the Oregon players; they were enjoying their win as a team as they should. We stand by and support Adia in everything she does. We have our talks off the court as a team and we know the great role model that she is. We are ready to bounce back and get ready for next weekend.

There are very exciting announcements coming in the near future that I am super excited about. I can’t wait to share with all of you. My mom is also coming this weekend; Proxy and I can’t wait to see her. We will probably be eating at Choice Greens a lot because that is our favorite food place to eat together. Proxy will also be getting a lot of walks and love. Almost every day, each member of my family will call me only to see Proxy and then hang up the phone. That is why every time someone gets to visit me they are so thrilled to see Proxy.
