Five-Star Boswell commits to Arizona, Lloyd

Tommy Lloyd picked up a commitment from his point guard of the future.

Kylan Boswell, a five-star guard, chose Arizona over Illinois and Nevada-Las Vegas on Monday.

Boswell looks to fit right in with Arizona’s fast-paced offense.

Boswell plays for AZ Compass Prep.

He visited Arizona during the Wildcats’ thriller win over Oregon earlier this month. He also visited during Arizona’s Red-Blue Game.

In his announcement, Boswell said he felt like UA treated him like a family member.

“Coach Tommy Lloyd’s pitch to me was he feels I can fit in his system and he believes in me,” Boswell said.  “It’s a fast-paced transition offense with a lot of open space off ball screens. He feels that’s something I can thrive in, and I agree.”

As does Matt Moreno, who covers Arizona basketball recruiting for GoAZCats.com.

“Kylan Boswell is an ideal fit for what Tommy Lloyd is looking for,” Moreno said. “The first thing that stands out about him when you watch him play is his toughness. He is really a physical guard who is already a strong defender and only getting better in that area. He could end up being an elite-level defender by the time his college career comes to an end. He is a well-built guard who is not afraid of contact and is going to pick the right moments to showcase his offensive game. He has a nice outside shot and is capable of being a big contributor on that end of the floor. His real value comes from his ability to lead a team and play a true point guard role. He isn’t afraid to run, and he plays well in transition. Arizona’s system feels like the perfect fit for him.”
