The Lancer Baseball Classic continues on Tuesday

Catalina Foothills came back to defeat Desert View 4-3 in the morning game on Monday after the Jaguars went up 3-1 in the fourth. The Falcons plated three in the bottom of the sixth to go along with a run in the second for the win.

Kincaid Bergthold walked with two outs in the bottom of the second for the Falcons and then Branden Franz reached on an outfield error that scored Bergthold for the early 1-0 lead. That held until a leadoff walk to Bradie Black sets things in motion in the top of the fourth for the Jaguars.

Alex Figueroa picked up a pop fly for the first out but Diego Pinedo reached on an infield error to put two on with Black advancing to third base. Pinedo stole second and Black took home to tie the game up 1-1. Pinedo advanced to third on a passed ball and Eduardo Torres walked to put two on. Figueroa picked up a strikeout for two outs but Pinedo stole home to make it 2-1 Jaguars.

Kris Quiroz reached for Desert View on an outfield error and Jesus Arvizu scored on the error after he came in to run for Torres. Desert View went 0-7 the rest of the way but the damage was already done.

Ethan Bell got things started for the Falcons in bottom of the sixth with a leadoff double and then Lucas Polec reached on an error. Matt Adams followed with an RBI single and then Anthony Diaz did the same to make it. 3-3. Bergthold knocked in the winning run.

Figueroa picked up 6 strikeouts and Diaz saw one inning one the mound for the Falcons. Torres and Andy Pacheco pitched for Desert View and Torres collected 4 strikeouts. Black picked up the one hit for Desert View and Diaz went 2 for 3 for Catalina Foothills.

Desert View plays Tombstone on Tuesday and Catalina Foothills will play Tombstone on Wednesday.

Walden Grove moved to 9-0 overall with a 24-1 win over Empire on Monday afternoon. The Red Wolves collected 20 hits with Daniel Novelo going 3-4. Fletcher Edwards had 5 RBI. Novelo, Andrew Romo and Parker Witt combined for 8 strikeouts in the win. Marty Wilson went 3-3 for Empire and he scored a run.

Walden Grove is led by head coach Murray Hicks. The former University of Arizona standout is in his third year at the helm. The Red Wolves will play Scottsdale Saguaro on Tuesday and Empire will play San Luis.
