CHOLLA CHARGERS
2021 RECORD: 1-7
- Cholla will move from the 5A Southern to the 5A Sonoran in the fall and the Chargers’ region opponents will be Flowing Wells, Marana, Nogales, Rincon/University and Sunnyside. Their region foes previously in 5A Southern were Desert View, Salpointe, Mountain View and Flowing Wells.
- Virgil Henderson, who will be in the third year of his second stint as the Chargers’ head coach, will not have things easy in 2022. He will coach his team in three non-region games on the road (Pueblo, Sahuarita and Buena) out of the first four games. The other non-region games are against Douglas and Vista Grande at home. The Chargers will also play three of their five region games on the road.
- Cholla’s lone win last year was at Rincon/University in the season opener as a non-region game. The Chargers will now play the Rangers in a region game at home Oct. 21.
