  • Cienega’s schedule is not all that kind. Justin Argraves’ team gets a bye week after playing at Catalina Foothills in the Sept. 2 opener, and then the Bobcats must play nine consecutive weeks to close the regular season.
  • The non-region portion is very difficult starting with Catalina Foothills undergoing a resurgence late last season under first-year coach Daniel Sainz but falling just short of the state playoffs.
  • Next comes four non-region opponents that either made the state playoffs or contended for a spot. The Bobcats host Millennium (lost in 5A first round at Desert View) and Salpointe (lost in 5A championship against Horizon) in consecutive weeks before playing at Desert Edge (lost to the Lancers in the 5A semifinals). They then host Marana (which finished 7-3 last season) on Oct. 7 before entering play in the 5A Southern.
  • The region schedule includes three straight road games against Ironwood Ridge, Desert View and Mountain View before Argraves faces his former school, Tucson High, in the regular-season finale at Cienega. Argraves is in his second season as Cienega’s coach after coaching the Badgers for 10 seasons.
