Thornydale came out strong. After giving up a lone run in the top of the first, Thornydale plated four in the bottom half of the inning thanks to a trio of hits and a few costly Canyon View errors. From there the game settled in to a pitcher’s duel. Canyon View’s Ethan Burnside found his groove and scattered just three hits over the final five innings, surrendering zero runs while striking out four. The defense behind him also solidified, committing zero errors and turning a pivotal double play in the second to strand a Thornydale runner on third and end a two-on, one-out opportunity.

Thornydale’s Ashton Angelley was also solid on the hill. Threw the first four innings he gave up just two runs on two hits, striking out three. Canyon View added a run in the fourth when Burnside scored on a fielder’s choice. Things changed in the top of the fifth. The Canyon View’s bats came alive in the inning as they pounded out five hits. Raj Abramian led off the inning with an inside the park home run to cut Thornydale’s lead to one. Abramian closed out the scoring with a second run later in the inning. In between six other Canyon View players scored.
