Pima Update: Pima men beat South Mountain 5-1

The Pima men’s soccer team beat South Mountain 5-1 in Phoenix on Tuesday. The victory pushed the top-ranked Aztecs to 5-0 on the year and 2-0 in the ACCAC.

All five goals came from different players with former Tucson High standout Daniel Rendon scoring in the 49th minute on assist from former Rincon/UHS standout Brian Vu. Nicholas Bianchi assisted Vu in the 55th minute, former San Miguel standout Andres Gutierrez-Rembao scored on assist from Bianchi in the 57th minute, Taichi Yamada scored in the 77th minute and Nicolas Nourry scored in the 83rd minute on an assist from Patricio Fernandez Oro.

The Cougars got on the board with a goal by Logan Mazaros in the 85th minute. Pima keeper Aaron Quezada finished the match with three saves and Cristian Sattin played the final 20 minutes at the net and had no saves.

The Aztecs will return to the West Campus Aztec Field at the Chapman Automotive Sports Complex on Saturday when they face off against No. 3 ranked Phoenix College at 4:30 p.m.
