Pima Soccer Update: Men draw even; Women suffer first loss

The top-ranked Pima men took a 2-0 lead on No. 3 Phoenix College on Saturday on a goal from Nicolas Nourry (Ernesto Osornio) in the first minute of action and another in the 25th minute on a goal from former Walden Grove standout Jacob Garcia (Osornio) but the Bears clawed back to force the tie.

Ivan Lopez scored in the 43rd minute and Ivan Corral came up with the equalizer in the 65th to force a scoreless overtime. The Aztecs are now 5-0-1 overall and 2-0-1 in ACCAC play. Aztec keeper Cristian Sattin finished with eight saves.

The top-ranked Pima women fell to 5-1 overall and 2-1 in ACCAC action after No. 2 Phoenix College came away with a 3-0 victory in Tucson.

The Bears scored quickly with scores from Anacel Acosta (3rd minute), Yesenia Lawson (4th minute) and Bailey Norris (6th minute). Aztec keeper Angelina Amparano (Salpointe) collected 11 saves.

The Aztec men will travel to play at Glendale on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. and the women will follow at 7 p.m.
