Some information for this report provided by the Arizona media-relations department:

Powered by a pair of grand slams, the Arizona Wildcats cruised past the Utah Utes to a 19-2 victory and a series win on Saturday night at Hi Corbett Field.

Arizona (21-15, 8-12 Pac-12) has won seven of its last nine games winning by an average score of 13 to 5.4 in that span.

The Wildcats went 2-10 in the previous 12 games, getting outscored 8.4 to 6.1 in the process.

Third baseman Tony Bullard led the offensive onslaught with six RBIs, followed close behind by second baseman Mason White (Salpointe Catholic grad) and shortstop Nik McClaughry, who each had five RBIs.

Bullard and White hit grand slams, the first time that has happened for Arizona in a game since Feb. 14, 1998, when Colin Porter and Rob Shabansky did it against Portland State.

Bullard has now logged five home runs in his last four games.

Offense wasn’t the only thing going right for the Wildcats (21-15, 8-12 Pac-12) as the pitching staff limited the Utes (14-23-1, 4-15-1) to just two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Bradon Zastrow earned the win and improved to 4-2 with six innings of two-hit, shutout work.

Right-handers Anthony Susac and Casey Hintz both worked scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one combined hit while striking out three.

Arizona’s top batters in the win:

3B Bullard: 3-for-5, three runs, HR, 6 RBIs

2B White: 1-for-3, 3 runs, HR, 5 RBIs

SS McClaughry: 2-for-5, three runs, HR, 5 RBIs

LF Chase Davis: 3-for-4, triple, RBI

1B Kiko Romero (CDO grad): 2-for-3, two runs

The Wildcats look for their first series sweep this season since opening conference play against Cal when they host the Utes on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
