Pima College’s baseball team knows its destination for the NJCAA Division I West District championship tournament that starts Thursday after Sunday’s Region 9 championship game between Beatrice (Neb.) Southeast College and McCook (Neb.) College.

Southeast (42-16) defeated McCook 12-6 in the game at Colorado Springs, Colo., which means the Storm will host the district tournament at Christenson Field. Beatrice is located 25 miles south of Lincoln, Neb.

McCook (37-23) also advances to the four-team West District tournament along with Region 1 champion Pima (45-16) and Region 18 champs Salt Lake (28-17).

The schedule of the opening games Thursday has yet to be released.

The winner of the district tournament advances to the NJCAA Division I World Series at Grand Junction, Colo., from May 27 to June 2 or 3.

Pima won its first Region I title since 1998 with its 6-4 win over Arizona Western on Saturday. The Aztecs are trying to advance to their first NJCAA Division I World Series appearance since 1992.
