Antonio Fernandez signs contract with the Billings Mustangs

Former Sabino standout Antonio Fernandez signed his first professional contract to catch and play first base for the Billings Mustangs of the Pioneer Baseball League. Fernandez was recently named NAIA All-American for McPherson College.

Christian Olea to play for Arkansas Teach

Former Tucson High and Cochise standout Christian Olea will move to Arkansas Tech of the Great American Conference. The catcher was a First Team All-ACCAC selection for Cochise. Former Douglas pitcher Emiliano Mata is a junior for the Wonder Boys.

Joseph Miranda to play soccer for Yavapai

Former Walden Grove standout Joseph Miranda will continue his soccer career at Yavapai. His father, Jose Miranda, won a national championship playing soccer for Yavapai in 1991.

Christian Gallardo is set to wrestle for Arizona Christian

Former Walden Grove wrestler Christian Gallardo signed with Arizona Christian University. Gallardo will join Rico Robles (Sunnyside), Wyatt Nelson (Ironwood Ridge), Cole Hickey (Cienega), Julian Gordin (Mountain View), Carlo Castagnaro (Cienega) and Albert Ambriz (Douglas) with the Firestorm.

Former Ironwood Ridge standout Peyton Pelletier to play for New Mexico Highlands

Former Ironwood Ridge quarterback Peyton Pelletier will be advancing from Los Angeles Pierce College to New Mexico Highlands. The Cowboys compete in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.

Former Salpointe standout Parker Pelletier to play for Morehead State

Former Salpointe receiver and defensive back Parker Pelletier will move from Los Angeles Pierce College to Morehead State. He will be joining former Ironwood Ridge standout Dylan Cook in Kentucky.

Andy is a Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016. Andy was named an Honorary Flowing Wells Caballero in 2019, became a member of the Sunnyside Los Mezquites Cross Country Hall of Fame in 2021 and he was a member of the Amphi COVID-19 Blue Ribbon Committee.
