Former Sahuaro High School standout Alex Verdugo hit his first major-league home run today in Los Angeles’ 8-1 loss to Colorado at Dodger Stadium.
Verdugo’s pinch-hit home run came off Colorado reliever Adam Ottavino in the ninth inning.

He has played in eight games since his call-up to the Dodgers on Sept. 1. He is batting .200 (3 of 15) with two walks and three strikeouts.
Verdugo, 21, is the 14th player from Tucson to hit a home run in a major-league game. The player with the most home runs is former CDO standout Ian Kinsler, who has 228 in his 11-year career with Texas and Detroit.
