The Arizona women’s basketball program landed a verbal commitment from Virginia Tech graduate transfer Trinity Baptiste, a 6-foot forward who should help address one of Adia Barnes’ biggest needs for 2020-21 — quality depth on the frontcourt.
At Virginia Tech this season, Baptiste averaged 9.5 points and 6.4 rebounds on her way to earning ACC Sixth Player of the Year.
With the addition of Baptiste, Arizona is getting much-needed help in rebounding. A case can be made that rebounding was a massive weakness during the 2019-20 season.
Arizona struggled to rebound finishing 199th in rebounding margin in the nation and getting out-rebounded by 0.7 rebounds per game. That ranked eighth in the Pac-12 in rebounding margin.
