Arizona Softball: One More Time Around

After the season abruptly came to an end due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Arizona’s six seniors were left wondering if they would get an additional year or if their collegiate careers were officially over.

Om March 30, the NCAA announced that it would be granting an extra year of eligibility to spring-sport athletes that saw the end of their season canceled.

The only catch was the financial arrangements that would be put on the universities and not the NCAA.

After Arizona AD Dave Heeke made it clear that his school was going to do everything in its power to help the seniors return for another season, the only question was, would they all come back for that additional year?

That question answered on Monday, as Arizona softball announced that all six seniors would be coming back for an additional season.

When you looked ahead to the 2021 season with Arizona returning all its key players along with the top ranked recruiting class, the potential for what that team could do is limitless and exciting.

However, with the other elite teams potentially welcoming back their seniors and having highly-ranked recruiting classes as well, there will be quite a few teams just as loaded as Arizona.

One thing is certain: the 2021 season is going to be filled with high expectations, drama and unbelievable talent. Also, a home run race that will captivate the softball world will be Jessie Harper inching closer to Lauren Chamberlain’s NCAA record of 95 homers.
