The game couldn’t have started any better for Salpointe in its 38-21 victory over Mountain Ridge improving to 4-0 on the season.
In the first quarter, the lethal combination of Arizona Wildcats commit and Salpointe quarterback Treyson Bourget and wideout Elijah Barclay combined for three touchdowns with more than 105 yards between the two.
After the quick 24-0 start, the Lancers’ offense went silent for most of the game by only scoring 14 more points.
Although the offense wasn’t as explosive, the Lancers kept a steady pace running the ball right at Mountain Ridge for 213 yards on 27 carries, capped off by a 32-yard touchdown run from running back Anthony Wilhite.
On the defensive end, Mountain Ridge was able to move the ball against the Salpointe. However, the Lancers created two turnovers to end drives that could’ve changed the game’s momentum.
