Arizona softball: press conference with Mike Candrea

After starting the season 12-0 and riding a 23-game winning streak dating back to the shortened 2020 season, No. 2 Arizona dropped its first game of the season to No. 22 Central Florida getting shut out 2-0 while only collecting three hits.

Arizona is in the middle of a Florida road trip that features seven games in eight days. So far on the trip, the Wildcats are 2-1 with one game against Florida A&M on Wednesday (3 p.m.) and a three-game series against No. 16 Florida State, on Thursday through Saturday, still awaiting Mike Candrea‘s team.

During the first half of the road trip, freshman second baseman and former Ironwood Ridge star Allie Skaggs has seen time on the field due to senior Reyna Carranco‘s injury. In the first game of the trip against South Florida, Skaggs hit a three-run blast for her first career home run.
