After seeing its roster dwindling to eight scholarship players with the transfers of Ira Lee, Jemarl Baker Jr., James Akinjo, Terrell Brown Jr., and most recently Jordan Brown, Arizona was in desperate need of players to fill out its roster to add depth.
Sunday morning, the Wildcats landed 6-foot-5, 216-pound Utah transfer Pelle Larsson of Sweden. He is Arizona’s ninth scholarship player.
Larsson picked Arizona over Kansas, Stanford, and Creighton, among others.
Last season as a freshman at Utah, Larsson averaged 8.2 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.8 assists while shooting an impressive 46 percent from beyond the arc.
Arizona coach Tommy Lloyd is regarded as one of the top international recruiters in the game, and with the addition of Larsson, the Wildcats now have seven international players on the roster.
