Arizona soccer coach Tony Amato leaves for Florida

Arizona soccer suffered a massive blow today with the loss of head coach Tony Amato who will be leaving the program to become the next Florida Gators head coach.

The announcement came on Florida’s Twitter account naming Amato the next head coach to lead the program.

Amato leaving brings an end to an eight-year tenure that was the most successful stretch in program history.

During his time at Arizona, Amato is the all-time winningest coach in program history with a record of (88-53-17) and made five NCAA tournament appearances in his eight seasons.

The pinnacle of his tenure came in 2015 when the Wildcats made it to the program’s second Sweet Sixteen, where they would eventually lose to Stanford to end that season.

Arizona will now enter the off-season with these question marks surrounding the program.

Will the senior attackers Jill Aguilera and Jada Talley stick around or move on with their future endeavors?

Who will be the next head coach?

Will the program ever be the same?
