Hail to J.Q. Hale: Only Southern Arizona Player Ranked In Top 10 Rushing and Passing


Not a more productive dual threat exists in the Tucson area than Palo Verde senior quarterback J.Q. Hale, who is the only player ranked statistically in the top 10 in rushing and passing yards heading into the sixth week of the season.

Hale ranks eighth in rushing in Southern Arizona with 538 yards on 104 carries and is ninth in passing, throwing for 598 yards while completing 44 of 100 pass attempts.

Hale is coming off a reported 308 yards passing and 211 yards rushing in Palo Verde’s 51-45 loss at Rincon last week. He completed 19 of 32 passes with two touchdowns and rushed 27 times with three scoring runs.

Palo Verde (1-4) travels to play Amphi (1-4) in a 4A Gila matchup on Friday.

Marana senior Trenton Bourguet is the top passer in Southern Arizona with 1,221 yards, while completing 87 of 123 passes (area-best 70.7 percent in completions).
