Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl Match Play Championship Friday at El Rio Golf Course

Hello Tucson,

My name is John Schones II and I currently work for Nova Home Loans. I am also a professional golfer.

I am born and raised in Tucson and grew up a member of the Ricki Rarick Junior Golf Program. No other city has a program like this. I was also the 1995 winner of the Cindy Rarick Achievement Award.

I was a four-time all-conference golfer, 2003 Horizon League Golfer of the Year, and 2000 MCC Newcomer of the Year while attending Wright State University on a golf scholarship. I am hoping some kid is inspired to work hard because there are great opportunities out there.

I brought an idea to the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl football game about doing a match play with kids from the First Tee Program representing Arkansas State and Nevada. No other bowl game will have such an event.

The goal is to get people excited about the First Tee Program and all the benefits it comes with. My goal is to help increase exposure to the program by highlighting these kids as I was one not so long ago. Another goal is to get more kids to sign up with the First Tee.

This is the medal the golfers will play for the in the Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl Match Play Championship.

I have the opportunity to present these kids and this event through ALLSPORTSTUCSON.com as I am a contributor here. I focus on kids and people who are making a positive impact within the community.

I am pleased to announce the pairings for this event to be played Dec. 21 at noon at El Rio Golf Course:
