The 54th Annual Flowing Wells Wrestling Invitational featured 68 state medalists, 12 individual champions and three team champions with Liberty (D-I), Sunnyside (D-II) and Walden Grove (D-III) taking part. Additionally, four of the top five D-I teams and three of the top four D-II teams from 2019 also competed.

Liberty won the team title for the first time in program history and the defending D-I champions did it by knocking off Sunnyside, the defending D-II champions, 308.5 to 256.5. The Blue Devils have 30 Flowing Wells championships dating back to 1974 including 2018 and 2019.

The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) recognition for the Arizona Assistant Coach of the Year for 2018-2019 was awarded to Brian Popadak of Desert Vista and the Arizona Coach of the Year recognition was awarded to Victor Gonzalez of Walden Grove.

Andy Morales was recognized by the AIA as the top high school reporter in 2014, he was awarded the Ray McNally Award in 2017, a 2019 AZ Education News award winner and he has been a youth, high school and college coach for over 30 years. He was the first in Arizona to write about high school beach volleyball and high school girls wrestling. His own children have won multiple state high school championships and were named to all-state teams. Competing in hockey, basketball, baseball and track & field in high school, his unique perspective can only be found here and on AZPreps365.com. Andy is the Southern Arizona voting member of the Ed Doherty Award, recognizing the top football player in Arizona, and he was named a Local Hero by the Tucson Weekly for 2016.
