Ironwood Ridge junior Celia Schrecker earned the Jet Sports Training Female of the Month honor for January for shooting an 8-over-par 148 to win the Girls 15-18 Division of the First Tee Tucson City Junior Series No. 1 held at the El Rio Golf Course on Jan. 16-17.
Schrecker’s win came a month after she shot a 2-over-par 72 in the second round of the Barrio Winter Classic held at the El Rio Golf Course to secure a commanding 12-stroke victory in the 15-18 Division.
Ironwood Ridge has won the state championship two consecutive years after Schrecker joined as a sophomore last year. She has advanced classes at Ironwood Ridge including AP Calculus AB, Pre-AP Chemistry, AP Language and honors seminar with a 3.6 GPA.
“I believe some of my strengths are my work ethic, confidence, positivity, athleticism, as well as a great team player,” Schrecker writes in her Next College Student Athlete profile. “My putting has recently become a great strength in my game in addition to my distance with the golf ball.”
